On the drive from the airport
- Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop Most of the way to Lahaina. A great stop if you're early for check-in.
Tours and activities
Snorkel trips, whale watching, sunset sails and more. Tours leaving from Lahaina Harbor are the easiest, since the harbor is close to your studio.

The luau

My top recommendation, and a short drive from your studio. Book directly with them, not through a reseller. It sells out, so reserve early.

- Rent your car at Kahului Airport (OGG). The Rental Car Center is a short walk or trolley ride from the terminal. There aren't good rental options near Lahaina. I usually pick the cheapest company that's actually inside the Rental Car Center, which is often Alamo. Book early on a refundable rate.
- Parking at Lahaina Shores is first come, first served, $15 per day.
- Early check-in or late checkout is sometimes available for a fee through your guest portal. If you're interested, please ask.
Hikes
Two favorites if you like a real workout, plus an easy option if you'd rather keep it gentle.
Waiheʻe Ridge Trail
Moderate to hard. Steady uphill climb.
Forest, valley and ocean views, with a lookout at the top. Go early, before clouds roll in and before the small parking lot fills up. The trail gets slippery after rain, so wear shoes with good grip.
Pipiwai Trail
Moderate. Plan a full day, since it's out past Hāna.
Walks through a bamboo forest to a tall waterfall. Pair it with a Road to Hāna day and leave early.
You need a national park pass. The trail is inside Haleakalā National Park (Kīpahulu area), so there's an entrance fee per car. The same pass also covers the Haleakalā summit for a few days, so you can do both on one pass. The park is cashless, so bring a card. An America the Beautiful annual pass also works.
Kapalua Coastal Trail
Easy. Mostly flat walk along the coast.
A great pick if the tougher hikes aren't for you. Beautiful shoreline and bay views, and it's a short drive north of Lahaina.
